This hotel is very busy- as a result my company and myself were surprised to find that you had to reserve a table to enable you to sit in the public bar regardless of the fact the you were a resident. It is over priced as there was no breakfast included - this you had to pay for seperately. The car parking was also a rip off as you had to go to a near by public car park which adveraged £30 per night. There was no special arragment between the hotel and the car park. You think that if you were staying in the hotel that ther would be a reduced rate. When we asked the staff about the car parking rates they shugged their shoulders and said that it was the going rate - end off.

We were in rooms at the front of the hotel and to be fair it was a bit noisy when the nightclub turned out at between 1 - 2am.Then the brewery delivered a load of barrels were delivered at 6.15am, which went on for approx 20mins - I gave up then and made a cup of coffee. There were ear plugs provided and I went again I would use them.

My friend stayed here I stayed at the Mercer Court both good hotels.
For a low cost short stay I would recommend the Mercer Court although a bit more basic.
For better facilities you may wish to pay the extra for the Russell Court. The main advantage for me that the Russell Court had over the Mercer was that it had not only a bar but a bar with at holiday atmosphere.

Used this hotel for a 40th birthday celebration. A short walk from the centre of town and all the action it was ideally situated. When the reviews say you'll need ear plugs they mean it purely because the outside bar stays open to about 6.00 am!! Good job we werent worried about being up to the early hours! Also had a problem with the heat - the rooms were stifling even with the window wide open all weekend (because it wouldnt shut!) If you're using the hotel for a base for the weekend it's perfect but not if you're expecting a peaceful and light hearted weekend!!! The reception area decor gives the impression that the hotel is very upmarket but the rooms are in need of updating and refurbishment.

Temple Bar at night is amazing.... and the shopping is absolutely superb. Take the open top bus tour - well worth it! Because of Dublin being so busy - suggest you book a restaurant - drop in tables are very hard to find!
