Hotel Location

Wynns hotel, Dublin - Exterior Wynns hotel
The hotel is hidden away on a corner street called Lower Abbey Street, just a few metres off O'Connell Street. The O'Connell Monument and the Abbey and Peacock Theatre are less than a minute's walk away. Other places of interest are close at hand. For example, Trinity College is a 6 minute walk, as is the vibrant and lively Temple Bar area. The medieval district of Dublin – comprising Dublin Castle, St. Audoen's Gate and the Christchurch Cathedral – is also approximately 10 minutes away on foot. The hotel is also ideally situated for shopping. The Jervis Shopping Centre and the popular Grafton Street are 8 minutes' walk away. The hotel therefore has an ideal location, being close to the shops and the nightlife without being in amongst them. Dublin Airport is 10 kilometres from the hotel. It will take you 30 to 45 minutes to get to or from the the airport (depending on the traffic) and the taxi fare usually is 20 to 30 Euro. If you are using the bus to get to Dublin city centre from the airport, there are several that stop outside the terminals. They are usually blue or green in colour and their main stops are Connolly Station and O'Connell Street. The cost of the bus one way is 5 Euro per person.

Hotel Description

Wynns hotel, Dublin - Lounge Wynns hotel
The hotel was established in 1845 as a boarding house under the ownership of Ms Phoebe Wynn. Since then it has changed hands several times and in 1992 was purchased by John and Connie Loftus. A traditionally styled 3 star property, it has an attractive grey stone facade with large windows. On the right hand side of the entrance door lies the newly refurbished Tomaso Restaurant, which features an originality of style dating back to 1900. The rest of the hotel's interior is also quite impressive. On the left side of the reception area you can enjoy a drink at the Saints & Scholars Bar, which seems to be always lively and busy. Housing 65 rooms spread over 5 floors, the hotel can accommodate the needs of all travelers, but is especially suited to those who are looking for a traditional Irish property with period charm.
