The North Star Hotel was built in the early 19th-century and is now part of the Regency Hotel Group, which is owned and run by the McGettigan family. The entrance door leads to a lobby with a sitting area featuring brown leather sofas, a wooden floor and pictures. The reception desk, the stairs and the door leading to the hotel’s bar are all made of pine. The stairs, which are on the left of the reception desk, are covered with a red carpet and flanked by ebony statues, each holding a torch with an electric light in it. Another door, to the right of the reception desk, leads to the restaurant.

The hotel also features its own gymnasium, which is open to residents only. It includes a line of cardiovascular equipment, racks and benches. For those who are tired and want to relax, the hotel has a Scandinavian designed sauna.

Check-in time is 2.00pm and check-out time is 11.30am. A full Irish breakfast is served in a special room and is available from 7.00am to 10.00am on weekdays and from 7.30am to 11.00am on weekends and bank holidays.
